I just have to know... shooting afocal, or dedicated t-mount (CCD maybe)?

And... is this througha dob, a refractor, or a schmidt cassegrain? I'm guessing dob

What kind of lens do you use to take your moon photography with?

Strictly for detail... these two are the best I have done so far.
I'm not limiting myself to staying at 200mm though. ;)

For now I'm sticking with dedicated canon EF lenses for everything I do...
but for the moon I shoot 70-200mm f/4 telephoto, focusing in live-view with image stabilization
(since attempting to do so with the viewfinder is utter crap ;)).

I can get very accurate doing it this this even with the short 200mm focal length,
but thats only because I spend around 10 minutes manually calibrating the focus as close to infinity as possible
in order that I may squeeze in as much detail from the lense as it can muster.
I have looked into dedicated Refactor-CCD combos coupled with a german equatorial mount, but the price for the hardware is prohibitive for now since I would only be interested in using such a system for lunar photography.

Nice lens. CCD can get pretty expensive. What kind of CCD were you looking at? Schmidt Cassegrain telescope alt/azm 6inch or 8inch are less expensive to use,but the tracking only last for a couple of seconds.

Heheh... actually I was already looking into the full-frame research 35mm sensors,
since in regular digital photography 35mm is a professional workhorse standard.
And for the project I have in mind,
I intend to create a pano-stitch of the entire surface at every lunar stage.

It's a plan for a long-ways off, but I intend to carry it out one day.
And who knows... the technology in the amatuer market could vastly improve
between now and in two decades. I have a lot of time.
